A basic governance model for OpenConext

Ensuring that the OpenConext project is equipped to handle development by the community in a structured and transparent way requires a certain degree of governance: a basic governance model. To strike a balance between encouraging anyone to make a contribution at any time and maintaining a high level of quality in the software, this basic governance model should at least describe the following items:

  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Decision making process
  • Contribution and participation process
  • Feature requests and bug tracking
  • Community Support

All of the above items are staffed by SURFnet. This is mainly because SURFconext is the main implementation of OpenConext. The governance model is open for participation by the active community. It is our aim to have an open governance structure where active community members could be part of. If you are interested, please contact us.
